Kinds of Sentences

  • Declarative - It states either Facts or Opinions and ends with a period(.)

  • Imperative - It gives requests or commands. It either ends with a period(.) or a question mark(?)

  • Interrogative - It asks questions and ends with a question mark(?)

  • Exclamatory - It expresses emotions using an exclamation mark(!)

Natural or Inverted

  • Natural - the subject(the topic) comes before the predicate.

  • Inverted - the predicate(stating something about the subject) comes before the subject.

Regular and irregular Verbs

  • Regular Verbs - follow the common pattern in making verbs in the simple past and present tense.

  • Irregular Verbs - are verbs that does not follow the common rule. They change their spelling to change the tense of the verbs.

Figures of speech

  • Simile - It compares two things using As or Like to emphasize the qualities of a person, thing, character, etc.

  • Metaphor - to compare two things by saying that one thing is the other thing without the use of As or Like.

Analyzing Other Figures of Speech

  • Hyperbole - the use of exaggeration for emphasis and more intense expression of ideas or emotions.

  • Irony - a statement or expression that means the opposite of what it says. It is also called as sarcasm.

  • Pun - a play of words that uses double meanings to create a humorous effect.

It is someone’s way of considering situations.

Espressing Viewpoints:
should be backed up by facts that support your ideas.

What is Fake News?

defined as those news that contains false information which does not have verified facts, quotes and news.

Writing a comparison essay
Parts:
- Introduction -It contains your topic sentence
- Comparison Point -contains the similarities between the two things or persons being compared.
- Contrast Point - Contains the differences between them
- Conclusion - It retells the story using the similarities and differences in the whole essay.

Why do we need to make comparison essays?
